A doula is born
Having worked in admin for years, I decided a complete change was needed after baby no.5 was born. As a breastfeeding peer supporter, I loved my job and took real joy in helping new mums to breastfeed successfully.
When local breastfeeding services were sadly cut, I wanted to continue in the same field, having found my niche. I had already decided that I didn't want to be a midwife so I made enquiries with friends who had employed a doula for their births, enrolled on a course and quickly decided that it would be perfect for me.
My name is Sophia. 'Sophoula' is a nickname from Cyprus where much of my family is from. I am a single mum to 5 children although some of them are quite big now! In addition to my work as a doula, I also work part-time very early in the morning, while studying psychology and reflexology.
